Background 

Doug was born and raised in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. His mother who was from Prince Edward Island provided his Celtic roots. Don Messer's Jubilee was watched from as far back as he can remember. The musicians and performers were stars and he loved the music, a mix of country, gospel, and traditional Celtic. The Beatles, from their first appearance on Ed Sullivan to Abbey Road, were idols. WMEX, Boston provided day time listening in Yarmouth through the 60's and early 70's. At night he tuned into stations like WABC, New York for his fix of POP, Rock, R&B, Soul, and American Folk. Today Doug can find something he likes in nearly any musical form however his writing style is dominated by the POP, R&B, Country, and Folk influences of his youth.
