Back Porch
by Doug Webster ©1994 (SOCAN)
Sitting on my back porch
outside my parents house
counting my pocket change
thinking about everything
The sky is blue, the air is clear
leaves rustle in the trees
my mind is far away
thing about everything
I'm thinking all sorts of things
some small, some big
sometimes I get all worked up
don't think it matters anyway
Hold on now, what was that
interesting could be true
surprised I never thought of it
thinking about everything
Lights are on but no one's home
oh well it goes like that
maybe I'll try again
thinking about everything
I'm thinking all sorts of things
some small, some big
sometimes I get all worked up
don't think it matters anyway
No, I'll take a pause and think about you
let the summer breeze blow through my hair
let the sunshine dance on the waves
and let you wash the worries from my soul
from my soul
Sitting on my back porch
outside my parents house
counting my pocket change
thinking about everything
The telephone rings
I get up, go inside
wonder will I answer it
thinking about everything .... |
