Matters of the Heart
written & composed by D. Webster [~May, 1983] c1987 (SOCAN)

Pop it back and swallow hard, soon
your troubles will be gone
Lay your pretty head down on your pillow
try not to yawn

No need to shiver now, soon your troubles will all disappear

but everyday another pill
and soon you find that still you lie awake
though you buy a better brand and take an extra one
they still don't work

There ain't no cover up
no hiding
from matters of the heart

Throw your shirt and jeans into a bag
and take your coat in case of rain
Hurry out the door and don't look back
you'll soon forget his name

No need to worry now, soon your troubles will be far away

but your troubles catch you quicker now
and at your age you find them cutting deep
today the scares don't heal so fast
and with the pain you find your getting weak

There ain't no cover up
no hiding
from matters of the heart

Turn around and face em now
try and stop those problems where they start
no sense trying to put'em off
they will only wait for you in the dark

Any way you cover them, soon your troubles will all reappear

with each new problem added on
you soon may find them all too much to take
and if you try to run this time
you'll trip for sure and land in your mistakes

There ain't no cover up
no hiding
from matters of the heart
