Still Remains
written & composed by Doug Webster c1982
Take me to a time when I was
young
When I didn't care very much about anything, about anyone
I've tried to remember but my
memories vague
on names of people, places that I've been, before
There's just one name stuck in
my head
I've tried to forget but it still remains
I've tried everything but it will not fade
I've put it away but it reappears
Let me slip back to a time
before
I've never had to pay this price for anything, for anyone
I've tried to escape but my
route's been blocked
I can't seem to see where I am heading for, heading to
There's just one memory in my
way
I've tried to forget but it still remains
I've tried everything but it will not fade
I've put it away but it reappears
It haunts me when the telephone
rings
expect to hear your voice on the other end
it scares me when I go downtown
too many memories of you still around
So let me hide away where I
won't be found
by any of the things that remind me of you, of then
My mind won't take it, the pressure's too great
my body's worn out from too many sleepless nights, endless days
The memory of you is much too
strong
I've tried to forget but it lingers on
I've tried everything but it will not fade
I've put it away but it reappears
It haunts me when the telephone
rings
expect to hear your voice on the other end
it scares me when I go downtown
too many memories of you still around |
