 By 1991, one of Doug's main musical collaborators,
Ed Goodine, had moved to Vancouver. Doug's musical landscape had completely changed.
He decided to do a recording that was acoustic and off the floor. Doug had met guitarist
Don Ross (alt.1,
alt.2)
by this time and asked him if he'd be interested in the project.
Ross agreed and the work on "Taking Shape" was begun. Ross recommended the rhythm section of
David Woodhead on bass and Al Cross on drums.
The whole tape was recorded in one day. Unfortunately, no one was interested in this music at the time so Doug continued working for a living.
