"The River
Rises" - pop rhythm and blues with a maritime Celtic lilt, released in 1994, was recorded under the name "Doug Webster & Seabreeze." It was the core band on this CD that recommended using Doug's name plus a tag and
Bohdan Hluszko, the drummer, tossed in the suggestion of Doug Webster &
Seabreeze.
The Seabreeze band name fulfilled the desire for a maritime theme. It also had a musical connection in that the most common record players back in the early 1960's were made by a company called Seabreeze. Plus a Seabreeze is a refreshing cranberry, grapefruit, vodka drink, and that tied in the many hours the band had spent working in bars. There were no objections or better ideas so the name stuck.
The members of Seabreeze, with the exception of Tony Quarrington, have changed from time to time. On The River Rises, the core band consisted of Tony,
Jack McFadden, and Bohdan Hluszko.
There were also guest appearances on the record from Kirk Elliot on violin/fiddle and accordion, Olga Van Kranendonk on cello and Angela Rudden on viola.
